Unit Level Preparedness

Colleges, schools and departments play a key role in emergency management through the development of site-specific department and/or building Emergency Action Plans. These emergency action plans (EAP) ensure personnel can:

  • Identify and use on-site emergency equipment (fire alarms, extinguishers, etc.)
  • React safely to specific emergencies (power outage, hazardous material spills, etc.)
  • Ensure prompt notification and efficient evacuation or “shelter in place” of building occupants during fire or other emergencies
  • Accommodate individuals with special needs
