All Hazards Planning Group (AHPG)

The All Hazard Planning Group, co-chaired by Executive Director of OSEH Terrance Alexander and University Chief Health Officer Robert Winfield, MD, has been tasked to consider the various emergency scenarios that might arise. The group addresses policies and various actions that might be necessary to respond to emergency situations in order to safeguard the health and safety of students, staff, faculty, and visitors, and to secure the academic and business operations of the University.

The planning is done collaboratively within the University, utilizing the expertise of the Office of the Provost, the Office of the General Counsel, the Office of the Vice President for Communications, the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Division of Student Affairs, the University of Michigan-Dearborn, the University of Michigan-Flint, the School of Public Health, the Rackham School of Graduate Studies, the Office of Human Resources and Affirmative Action, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Occupational Safety and Environmental Health, the Plant Operations Department, University Housing, Risk Management, and other non-University agencies as appropriate.

The group takes into account that the University is both a major employer and resource within the city of Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County, and the State of Michigan and as such, will require close collaboration with authorities at the County and State. The Group will work with the Department of Occupational Safety & Environmental Health in gaining the assistance of UM units in preparedness matters with recommendations for policies and actions that may be implemented to protect the University and its community.
